Seminar Description

Promoter analysis of plants

In this webinar Dr. Alexander Kel, the CEO and CSO of geneXplain GmbH, together with the biologist from Osnabrück University Dr. Maria Kozlova, will apply TRANSFAC to study different Plant Promoters.

Alexander and Maria will show how to integrate different plant genomes within the geneXplain platform and perform promoter analysis. Transcription factor binding sites in plant promoters will be identified together with the master regulatory molecules regulating the transcription of genes.

The following main questions will be in the focus of this seminar:

  • What is the prerequisite to integrate a plant genome?
  • What plant profiles are there in TRANSFAC?
  • How to analyze different types of plant data inside the geneXplain platform?
  • How to build your own pipeline?

What you will learn in this webseminar

  • TRANSFAC database and geneXplain platform – brief overview
  • Performing TFBS search for plant genes
  • Example analysis of Coffea canephora (GSE128888)
  • Site search summary. Identification of master regulatory molecules playing a potential role in gene regulation.

Seminar Schedule

The session will start on April 22 with a lecture from Prof. Dr. Alexander Kel and Dr. Maria Kozlova (approx. 1 hour) and will be continued with a Q&A session addressing the questions coming from the attendees of the online event (up to 30 minutes).

What You Get

  • 1 hour lecture on gene regulation analysis provided by one of the key opinion makers in this field
  • 30 minutes interactive Q&A session addressing your questions regarding search for TFBS
  • Time-unlimited access to the video record of the session
